The second day of in-cosmetics North America began with several presentations including one by Mintel’s own Sarah Jindal, Senior Innovation and Insights Analyst, Beauty & Personal Care. Jindal presented on Mintel’s 2017 Global Beauty & Personal Care Trends, with emphasis on products with simple messaging and ingredients, re-energization and stress reduction, and beauty routines for different times of day, before taking a deep dive into Mintel’s Active Beauty trend. The presentation provided cross-category examples of the Mintel trends in action, as well as an extensive range of product examples from indie brands to big players.

Over the course of the show, Mintel was located in the Innovation Zone section and hosted several live product demonstrations showcasing real product examples of Mintel’s 2017 Global Beauty Trends. Attendees were able to touch and feel some of the most innovative products from around the world and learn more about how they fit into the 2017 trends.alison incos

The overall show focused on what goes into creating a beauty product from formulating to packaging. Attendees were able to see the finished products in The Innovation Zone, which had sections dedicated to innovative peptides, new plant-based formulations and even blends inspired by beer. Each booth had live products examples for people to feel, and provided the backstory behind the ingredient discovery. in-cosmetics North America ended with several presentations around ingredients and trendspotting, and provided a great understanding of all of the work and research that goes into creating a beauty or personal care product before it hits the shelves.

Alison Gaither is a Beauty and Personal Care Analyst at Mintel. She has been with the company since 2015, initially working as a Beauty Client Service Manager on the Mintel Client Service team.
