Rarely do hair styling packs resemble the hairstyle they aim to achieve, but this new launch from Ecoco in Vietnam, available on Mintel’s New Products Database (GNPD), does just that. The aptly named Pinhead Hair Styling Gel is offered in an extrusion blow moulded bottle in HDPE which holds 240ml of gel and is closed with a flip-top cap, injection moulded in polypropylene. Product information is supplied on a shrink sleeve label, printed gravure. To reinforce the spiky hair theme the bottle is topped with a four pronged injection moulded piece, emulating spiky hair. The “spiky” packaging will most certainly make this product stand out from similar offerings and succeeds also in conveying visually the hair style it can be used for. Packaging appearance can be important in this market, as nearly a fifth of American consumers who use hairstyling products make a purchasing decision based on the look of the package (Mintel report, Haircare – US – May 2011). The hair gel offers extreme hold with an alcohol-free and hypoallergenic formula and is watermelon-scented. It is formulated with Frutiplex, a blend of fruit extracts that is said to provide long-lasting moisture. You might also be interested in: No related posts.
