We had a beautiful week here in the Mintel press office, with the launch of Mintel’s Beauty & Personal Care service – BPC. The new beauty service hit the headlines in Happi and GCI Magazine as well as Beauty Packaging. What is more, we ran a relentless campaign on Twitter, with a beauty Twitter Takeover day including a competition for retweeters. The result 57 tweets and over 120 retweets and mentions. And there was more beautiful coverage on the radio, when our senior consumer analyst Michelle Strutton talked about the beauty services industry on BBC Radio 4, while Hello quoted our oral health data.

And in the UK, we had some fun with baking. The Sunday Times spoke about how we are “”all away with the fairy cakes,”” while The Daily Telegraph talked about us being “”Baking mad”” and the return of afternoon tea. Still with food, in The Financial Times, Mintel’s data was used in an article about Greggs’ expansion plans, while The Times used sugar confectionery research to talk about how Refreshers saves Wham bar from meltdown.

On to another of our favourite pastimes – holidays, the Sunday Express, quoted Mintel’s weddings abroad data at the start of the week. Further afielid, in Spain, BBC Mundo highlighted our coughs and colds research.

Finally, we announced to the world our latest aquisition – Access Asia. The announcement was met with great interest and made a splash in a number of business and research publications including Research, SYS CON UK, Marketwatch, Barron’s. We also hit the headlines in the high profile Reuters and The Daily Herald and had some great coverage in Sohu.com in China.

In the Chicago press office coverage was kicked off by a piece in the Los Angeles Times that referenced our nail color and care figures. In other news, Ali Lipson, Mintel’s senior retail and apparel analyst took her first interview with the Atlanta Business Chronicle and gave her opinion of the success of discount retailers.

Meanwhile, Comperemedia data was used in two articles this week. The first one in Bloomberg Businessweek focused on balance transfer offers and was reposted on dozens of sites, including Yahoo! Finance. The second story was written by an Associated Press reporter and got picked up by big-time publications like The New York Times highlighting Compere data to point out the number of credit card offers that boast cash back incentives.

Much like last week, our chocolate expertise got lots of attention in the press with stories in The Chicago Tribune and NPR.com. Both included our global or regional chocolate sales figures. Additionally, one of our foodservice analysts, Kathy Hayden, was quoted in The Columbus-Dispatch about the popularity of pumpkin flavors on restaurant menus.

Closing out the week, Mintel beverage expert Garima Goel Lal was interviewed in a Beverage Industry article about the bottled water market while a second piece in the same magazine quoted our Marketing to Gen X report extensively.
