Freelance - Quantitative Consumer Research Analyst

At Mintel, we are looking to build and develop our network of freelance quantitative consumer research analysts who are available to work on a contract basis to produce reports based on analysis of consumer research data.

Freelance analysts should have existing experience in the following disciplines:

Client Development Manager - Mintel Food and Drink Team

As part of our additional investment into the Mintel Food and Drink Team we are looking for two additional talented people to join the team working as Customer Development Managers.Working within the Mintel Food & Drink team you will be expected to be competent in your use and interpretation of data from our product portfolio (including GNPD, GMN, Inspire, Oxygen and Menu).

The main aim of your role is ensure that our clients use Mintel's data to its full extent (whether that be helping them use the data or presenting data analysis to them directly).  

You will be confident in front of clients presenting our data across a variety of formats including onsite and via webinar over the telephone. You will be organised and efficient managing your diary and your webinars effectively to deliver data to as many people as possible.

You will have skills in customising presentations to fit the clients you are presenting to using a library of pre-published content prepared by the Mintel Food and Drink Global Research team. You will also be running some custom analysis for clients.

You will be confident in the use of all products sold in the region to a level where you are able to train clients – training meetings will be set by the account managers and will be mainly office based delivered via webinar (either individual or group sessions).

You will be expected to be out of the office up to 10 days a month. You will be responsible for logging all presentations you run on our CRM system, collating feedback at each session and feeding back to the Account Director on any additional contacts, sales opportunities or requests that need immediate attention along with an overview of the session.

Essential to the role is a close collaboration with the Account Directors in your territory to ensure we deliver the required number of insight presentations per month. A background in Food and Drink is desirable but not essential.

Languages required : all candidates must be fluent in English and any combination of German, French, Italian and Spanish.

Candidates must be confident in working directly with clients, familiar with our data sources and possess insightful analytical skills coupled with engaging presentation skills.Candidates must hold a valid driving license.

French Speaking Client Development Manager - Mintel Beauty Innovation Team

As a member of the Mintel Beauty Innovation team, a CDM has background in the beauty industry and a responsibility to  analyse and deliver shared content using all of Mintels sources to supply clients with additional insight and beauty expertise to add greater value from their subscriptions.

These presentations will be provided in many forms power point, webinar, face to face and consider our insights from 3 perspectives: Markets, Competitors and Trends.  The CDM will deliver these both to the Account team (who will in turn share with clients) and also to clients directly. The CDM is mainly office based but will occasionally travel with Account Directors to aid with on-site presentations and training to major accounts in the territory they cover. The CDM is responsible for all in-coming client support requests to Account Directors and to helpdesk. All support is logged on our CRM system. The CDM also provides regular web-based and phone-based solutions focused training sessions to users across the region.

Support Target Retention Rate
Support client retention of the Beauty Innovation service through presentations and training to illustrate application of data.. Support Account Directors with Trend presentations.

Data Application
Demonstrate to client how to apply the data they have and discover how clients are using the information and collect ROI stories to illustrate. (shared presentations across DA team globally).

Sales Opportunities
Highlight potential for account growth to Account Directors ie extra reports to current subscription, users or sites, additional data coverage (eg IRIS, Menu, BI)

Red Flag Accounts
Support account directors in accounts where renewal has red flag status.

Relationship Building
Work alongside the account directors to increase awareness of Mintel and  to increase numbers of users within the client base in the territory you are focusing on

New Users
Identify and log new users across all accounts to increase the value and ROI from each account (especially important on accounts with red flag status through presentations, one to ones and calls to identify new and potential users)
 Webex Training sessions
Access to user manager to customize content, set up email alerts for users.
Accounts to be prioritized with Sales Director weekly

Data Application/Training Visits
Guided by CDM manager, their will be approximately 5 on-site session in any month.

Product Development and User Guides
Contribution and suggestions toward design of new user guides, and assist product development with suggestions

Value Added Deliverables
Support Beauty Innovation clients by creating timely monthly newsletter and quarterly trend presentations to be sent to all clients who subscribe further expressing Mintel’s expertise and dedication to the beauty categories.

We need regular Mystery Shoppers in the following locations:

This is not a full time role and can be completed at weekends/evenings. The main duties include monitoring specified retails outlets for new product activity and purchasing and reporting these launches to us.

General duties:

  • Visit major retail outlets weekly to monitor new product launches
  • Translate all core on-pack data into our shopper website
  • Establish a rapport with store managers where possible
  • Photograph the product when required (optional if you have a camera but it is a plus)
  • Pack and ship products to our London office
  • Communicate monthly with your shopper manager
  • Relay trends, news and information on local country


A research or retail background is ideal but not essential.

Basic requirements include:

  • Home PC and basic computer knowledge
  • Internet access at home (ideally broadband, but dial-up is ok)
  • Car or access to a car, although in some cases access to public transport will suffice
