Busy consumers in India are looking for shortcuts when it comes to food and drink. At the same time, however, they are not willing to compromise on health just for convenience. As a result, more and more packaged food and drink products are starting to address specific health problems.
It’s no secret that Indians love to drink juice and many consider it healthier than carbonated soft drinks. In fact, Mintel research reveals that three in five Indian consumers agree that packaged juice is healthy. Using Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD), here we look at some recent product launches in India’s juice market that deliver on health benefits.
Antioxidants address multiple health issues
Digitalisation has made health information more accessible, driving consumers to demand food and drink that improve multiple health conditions all with one wholesome solution—and juices that are rich in antioxidants are such an example.

This product is said to be an excellent source of vitamin C, high in antioxidants, and rich in minerals and fibre. It claims to promote hair growth, skin health and digestion, and contains no added sugar.

This juice is made with pineapple, pomegranate, papaya, carrot, coconut water, chia seeds and mint, and is suitable for vegans and vegetarians. Consumers in India have always considered juice as a good source of energy. As such, packaged juice brands are providing the benefits of natural, on-the-go energy boosters in their products.

This product is said to hydrate naturally and is described as a sports energy drink with a potassium level that’s equivalent to one banana. This coconut water is made with selected fresh and green tender coconuts and is free from added preservatives.

This cold pressed juice is made with sugar cane from Maharashtra and is said to be a natural energy booster. It is extracted without any heat or oxidation to preserve its natural nutrition, fibre and shelf-life.
Supporting healthy digestion
Current eating habits have brought about an increase in digestive issues among Indians. As a result, brands in India are differentiating their offerings by launching juices that aim to aid digestive health. According to Mintel GNPD, claims with digestion-related benefits have grown to 21% in 2018 – almost three times what they were in 2017.

This juice is said to be a natural source of fibre and provides five essential vitamins and minerals. It helps to balance and maintain digestive health by aiding the absorption of beneficial nutrients.

This product is said to be a healthy sweet blend of apples, beets and carrots, with a refreshing hint of ginger and lime. It is free from added sugar or preservatives, is rich in vitamins A and C, and can help immunity and digestive health.
