Account Director - Key Accounts, SEA (Singapore-based)

The role of Account Director, Key Accounts is responsible for a portfolio of the highest spending Mintel Clients within our Global and Regional Key Account Program, primarily in the Singapore and in other SEA markets if set by APAC Management team. The Account Director, Key Accounts will network extensively and identify consulting upgrade opportunities and develop a best in class approach to increase and grow Mintel’s business portfolio for these accounts across the appointed territories. This role will be responsible for establishing strong relationships with Mintel’s Global Key Account base and drive Mintel into a position where we are considered a valued and preferred research partner for these accounts. Communication externally and internally is a core element of this role, and as such you will collaborate with the core business team to lead to an optimum experience for your clients.


What You Will Be Doing

  • Deliver against Mintel’s revenue targets by networking high and wide within the client organisation to deliver sales growth against targets with a strong focus on consultancy sales and upgrades
  • Own commercial relationship of the key accounts in your portfolio in your market, working with global account managers to support best practices in the portfolio and drive sales growth across all Mintel regions (due to time zone differences, evening calls may be required)
  • Close partnership with the Client Success team to develop and roll out Mintel’s core client servicing strategy with each client and adapt appropriately to each client’s core business objectives
  • Working alongside with the other Key Account Managers to ensure maximum synergy and coordination for the benefit of the client as well as Mintel to drive growth.
  • Regular strategic reviews conducted with internal stakeholders to track progress (and update accordingly) against strategic plan
  • Continuously deliver creative business solutions to prove ROI and gather value statements on a quarterly basis for each client to aid in the renewal and entrenchment process
  • Meet commercial KPIs (contract upgrades, consultancy sales, renewal targets) as set by APAC management team
  • Ensure accurate recording of client details, meetings, objectives, opportunities within Salesforce CRM
  • Be a leading figure on the SEA Commercial team proactively providing advice and mentorship to other members of the team
  • Proactively distil learnings from Commercial successes into the wider team
  • Use proximity to Mintel SEA’s Key Accounts to translate unmet client needs back into APAC management team as business cases for investments or improvements


Who We Are Looking For

  • A Practitioner:  You should have at least 8 years of sales success, with focus on account management, a track record of selling consultancy solutions to the C-suite, as well as rooted connection within the FMCG sector. You possess and apply practical and technical skills, knowledge, and experience related to sales and customer services.
  • Consultative Sales and Research knowledge: You are able to digest clients’ request and translate their business needs into actionable research projects ideas.
  • Client-Obsessed: You actively joins your team’s client meetings to speak with and listen to clients, and consistently have clients talk to the company about what is and is not working. You network at the highest possible levels within clients to ensure there is appropriate executive engagement.
  • Commercially-minded: You have a proven track record of delivering return on investment and achieving sales targets.
  • Familiarity with the SEA market: You have experience working with clients in the SEA, and are familiar with the region and its market in terms of potential market/business opportunities.
  • Great communicator: You have extremely polished verbal and written communication skills, and can adapt your communication style to suit each client, your team and across teams.
  • Short and long-term focused: You have an understanding of the immediacy of winning this month’s team sales results, while making the appropriate adjustments to ensure the same for the next 6-12 months.
  • Creative problem-solver: You are able to identify complex problems based on a broad range of factors.  You also are able to develop & implement optimal solutions.  You establish key results, you track learnings and you embrace continuous improvement.
