Smoking ban breathes new life into smoking cessation aids market

July 2, 2007

Once giving up smoking was a case of going cold turkey and having steely will power. But with the English smoking ban just around the corner, latest research from MINTEL finds some interesting global alternatives to help kick the habit, including a squirt of hand gel, a mouth spray that brings on sickness when you light up and a nicotine replacement water. In the UK alone, the smoking cessation aids market is a multi-million pound business. This year, sales are set to break through the £100 million mark, having seen a 40% increase since 2002. Similar growth is expected for the coming four years, with sales set to reach £140 million by 2011.
