Financial Services Companies Reduce Direct Mail
Mintel Comperemedia observes decline during first quarter of 2008With the economy shaken and Americans uncertain about their finances, leading financial services companies are cutting back on direct mail. Mintel Comperemedia reports that in the first quarter of 2008, the estimated number of direct mailings sent from banking, credit card, investment, and mortgage and loan companies fell 10%.This drop in direct mail follows a year of steady declines as financial services companies reassess their marketing strategies for credit-stretched consumers. Mintel Comperemedia estimates financial services direct mail volume at 4.2 billion for Q1 2008, 13% lower than the 4.8 billion estimated for Q1 2007.
