Bakuchiol is one of the main active ingredients in the seeds of Psoralea corylifolia and belongs to the monoterpene group. Bakuchiol has antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties and has been used as a cosmetic skin care ingredient for many years.
Among new launches in Mintel Global New Products Database (GNPD), the use of Bakuchiol in new skin care products worldwide has shown a significant growth trend over the last five years. From October 2017-September 2018, 0.056% of new skin care products worldwide used Bakuchiol, and this percentage reached 0.76% between October 2021-September 2022, an increase of nearly 13 times over the five-year period. New skincare applications of this ingredient are concentrated in the U.S. and U.K. markets.
