Financial Times: UK online retail sales slow for fourth consecutive year. Despite the rapid growth of online-only outlets, they still account for less than half of all online sales. Their share of online sales have risen from 40 per cent in 2009 to almost half in 2012, but Mintel predicts this shift will slow as high street retailers up their online game.

Financial Times: Brazil’s coffee roasters get a taste for arabic. “Brazilians are definitely much more demanding about their coffee, which is going to influence the coffee blends.” As a result, the country’s “higher quality beans will increasingly be used to service the Brazilian market”, says Mintel’s Renata Pompa.

New York Times: Online, a cereal maker takes an inclusive approach. Cold cereal is consumed by 92 percent of American households, according to Mintel, the market research firm. The flip side of such popularity for cereal makers is that there are limited numbers of people to convert and expand the category.

Creditcards.com: Credit card interest rates remain at 14.96% for fifth week. Twelve percent fewer offers were mailed to consumers’ homes in June, according to a research note released July 22 by the financial services firm Credit Suisse, which cited Mintel Comperemedia research.
