Modern Slavery Act Statement

We are committed to combat slavery and human trafficking and to improve our efforts to do so. This statement sets out the steps that Mintel takes to prevent such inhumane practices within our supply chains and our business, and is made in respect of our financial year ending 30 September 2023.

Our business

Since 1972, our predictive analytics and expert recommendations have enabled our clients to make better business decisions faster. We have over 1200 employees worldwide and operate in Belfast, Bangkok, Chicago, Kuala Lumpur, London, Mumbai, Sao Paulo, Seoul, Shanghai, Singapore, Düsseldorf, Sydney and Tokyo.

Our supply chains

Our supply chains are limited and include the following suppliers:

  • Professional services (e.g. external legal and financial advisors and training providers).
  • Real estate facilities management and staffing services (e.g. professional cleaning services).
  • Utilities and health and safety providers (e.g. providing hand sanitiser for use in offices).
  • Communication services.
  • Data centres.
  • Information technology services (including technological devices).
  • Recruitment of employees and agency workers.
  • Waste and green services (e.g. recycling).
  • Marketing and research firms (e.g. consumer data).
  • Employee benefits companies.
  • Travel companies.

Our policies and processes

Our anti-slavery and human trafficking policy reflects our commitment to act ethically and with integrity in all our business relationships. This is underpinned by our endeavours to implement effective systems and controls to help identify and reduce the risk of slavery and human trafficking.

To further reflect our commitment, we have invested in the following positive actions:

  • Building enhanced processes to ensure recruitment and selection processes are fair.
  • Dedicated assistance to help confirm and support employees’ right to work status in their hiring country.
  • Establishment of a dedicated compliance committee, consisting of representatives of key departments in our organisation, to lead and support our endeavours in the prevention of slavery and human trafficking.
  • MintelGives, the employee committee devoted to corporate social responsibility, provides an opportunity for employees to volunteer and fundraise for causes that reflect Mintel’s core values and creates a positive impact in our society.  We have fundraised for humanitarian, environmental, and social-mobility charities.  Please visit our website to learn more about the work we do.

Our due diligence processes

To ensure that our key supply chains support our commitment to prevent slavery and human trafficking, Mintel has implemented an on-boarding and screening process managed by our Procurement department. This process includes slavery and human trafficking due- diligence questionnaires. This system assists Mintel in evaluating the slavery and human trafficking risks posed by our suppliers. It also helps us understand the steps being taken by suppliers to address such risks within their own businesses.

Our training programmes

To ensure a high level of understanding of the risks of slavery and human trafficking in our supply chains and our business, we have appropriate training available to applicable employees.

Our effectiveness

We have a zero tolerance approach to slavery and modern trafficking and we are committed to ensuring it does not take place in our supply chains or our business. We expect that our suppliers will hold their own suppliers to the same high standards. As part of our ongoing endeavours, we will continue to monitor our effectiveness through our on-boarding and screening processes and our internal training. We will take firm remedial action where needed.

This statement is approved by Mintel Group Ltd.’s Board of Directors in compliance with section 54(1) of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and will be reviewed and updated annually.
