We don’t want you to fit in at Mintel; we want you to add something to it.
Building diverse teams that include people with different perspectives is what makes us thrive. We rely on each other to sharpen our skill sets, challenge the status quo and make us better at our jobs.
We have over 1,300 employees in 13 offices around the world. We are made up of more than 48 nationalities speaking 37 languages. Our best ideas and products have come from bringing together people from many cultures with varied work experience and different perspectives.
“A truly diverse, equitable and inclusive culture allows all employees from all backgrounds, experiences and abilities to contribute to something larger than themselves.
Being seen, heard and cherished as your authentic self drives innovation and growth personally and professionally. As a market leader in understanding and delivering what people want and why, Mintel strives to be even more reflective of the marketplace and our communities, while fulfilling our purpose of helping people, businesses and communities grow.”
We need to ensure that individuals feel heard and that they are part of the decision-making process. We are meeting employees, partners and clients where they are and making accommodations as needed. To accomplish this, we developed four pillars to guide us on these goals.
Culture
+ –
Mintel’s first step in enhancing its company culture and following through on its DE&I strategy was to create the Global Diversity Manager role to drive project implementation and engage employees, the executive leadership teams and other stakeholders across the organization. In 2021, we brought the very talented Adiat Baker into the role and she immediately started working closely with our global employee resource groups (ERGs) to build the framework for them to serve as safe spaces and resources for some of our marginalized employees and to assist our HR teams in enhancing our hiring and onboarding practices.
Career
+ –
In the interest of our people, career development and cultural competency are top priorities as they relate to creating a diverse, equitable and inclusive workplace. We’ve worked with our DE&I consultants to develop a cascading approach to conscious inclusion training, starting with our top leaders. In addition to ongoing training, we will begin to develop a more diverse representation of talent for future leadership roles through the launch of the Annual Development Group. This nine-month global leadership development program launched in 2022.
Commerce
+ –
Our third pillar of focus centers around commerce or the marketplace, which includes our clients and the business world at large. As a leader in the market intelligence industry, we pride ourselves on providing best-in-class insights and recommendations regarding what is happening in the world around us. Our analysts have been busy producing DE&I relevant content.
Community
+ –
Our corporate social responsibility global committees, Mintel Gives, set the groundwork for our DE&I program years ago by positively impacting communities with the most need across the spectrum of diversity in both time and treasure. We are aligned with the Valuable 500 pledge that then Global CEO, Peter Haigh (now Executive Chairman of the Mintel Board), signed earlier this year, committing to continuing to incorporate disability inclusion as part of our overarching Mintel Diversity initiative by supporting organizations that serve the differently-abled segment of the populace. Globally, we’ve initiated relationships with organizations that support the LGBTQIA+ community, as well as renewed our commitments to mentoring youths from marginalized communities and developing sponsorships with universities and small minority businesses to support our next generation of leaders.
Mintel employee resource groups
Mintel’s employee resource groups (ERGs) drive diversity initiatives by serving as safe spaces for underrepresented groups and their allies to find common ground, express their views, gain insight into existing challenges and counsel senior leadership on internal culture and thought leadership for our clients.
