On June 7, Mintel participated in the four-day Seoul Food Trade Show. At the event, visitors checked some of the latest food and drink products launched globally, why they are rated ‘best in class’ by both Mintel clients and our analysts, and tap into six on-trend themes:

Better for You

The use of health-relevant flavors and ingredients is increasingly being used to achieve consumer health and well-being goals.

The cereal blend drink is an FFC-certified product that is caffeine-free and contains chlorogenic acid extracted from coffee beans to lower blood pressure and visceral fat. In April 2022, this product was re-launched as Eco Pack and Muravelo of FSC Mixlogo, taking the lead in reducing household waste.

Personalization

Brands have begun to approach consumers through steadily accumulated and precisely analyzed data and evidence.

A vitamin jelly product meticulously formulated to support hormonal balance and improve women’s overall sexual health and performance using natural nutrients. The combination of vegan vitamin D3 and inositol enhances libido and sexual function.

The Challenge of Sustainability

How brands are being more disruptive, more transparent and more reassuring around their product’s eco credentials.

A vegan wine with hints of thyme and a hint of ripe plum. Handcrafted in South Africa, in bag in box packaging, the inner pack and tabs are fully recyclable soft plastic, and the outer box is an eco-friendly package of 80% recyclable paper.

Consumers to explore and enjoy new experiences regardless of time and place.

It is a brown rice snack that is rich in vitamins and helps lower the glycemic index using 100% domestic brown rice (made in Japan). This product was developed at Tohoku University’s Smart Aging International Research Center and offers 5 out of a total of 24 brain training quizzes.

Plant-Based

A new plant-based diet is becoming a new consumer lifestyle trend that can embrace both health and sustainability.

Plant-based candy made with soy milk. In addition, the packaging is printed with biomass ink, and the product has been certified as a vegan product.

Premiumisation

Injecting new senses, experiences, and stories into products, as well as differentiation of manufacturing methods and raw materials, can increase product quality and price and draw consumer interest.

It is a product that can give coffee a unique taste just by sprinkling it with cinnamon and vanilla using the Chinese spice star anise, which is also called octagonal in Korea. It can change the taste of coffee and add new experiences and premiums to consumers.
