Mintel experts track the trending ingredients and new product launches, spotlight the trends affecting the market and its future growth. In this episode, we’re looking at Astragalus.

Astragalus is used in traditional Chinese medicine to increase stamina and support the immune system. Astragalus is found in food, drink, supplements, and more recently, in pet food and sports nutrition. According to Mintel GNPD, five years ago, the majority (67%) of global astragalus-containing launches were in Asia Pacific, but that share is shrinking as astragalus moves into European and North American markets. By the end of a 12-month period ending in July 2023, only 44% of astragalus-containing launches were in APAC, with 25% being in Europe and 22% in North America.
