Chicago, September 2013 – To stay one step ahead of changing consumer demands, brand owners and package designers must constantly have their eyes and ears on the markets they serve. With this in mind, PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2013 (September 23-25; Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, NV) is partnering with Mintel to bring a series of thought-provoking presentations to the show floor.

Led by Mintel’s Lynn Dornblaser, director of Innovation & Insight, the presentations will help brand managers, marketers and package designers understand the trends driving consumer purchases and learn about new ways to enhance connections with shoppers and grow brand sales.

Presentations will take place once per day on the Innovation Stage, located in the Central Hall. There is no cost to attend the presentations and registration is not required.

As of today, presentation topics and timing is as follows:

As science continues to advance, companies have more options than ever before for sustainable or responsible packaging. This is good news, as consumers are increasingly interested in products that are good to the environment, in every way. This presentation will look at what U.S. consumers have to say about packaging, sustainability and the environment, plus identify some of the consumer products on the market that answer those needs.

Presentation #2: Packaging for seniors—an untapped opportunity
Date/Time: Tuesday, September 24; 10:00-10:30 am
Location: Innovation Stage 2, Booth 142

With the senior population growing in many countries around the world, it is essential that product packagers address how to make their lives easier. Learn about what is important to this consumer group, and what companies can do in response. Look at (and interact with) product examples that help enhance functionality for all consumers, especially seniors.

Presentation #3: Packaging for the connected consumer
Date/Time: Wednesday, September 25; 10:00-10:30 am
Location: Innovation Stage 2, Booth 142

Mobile technology is everywhere–it seems that we are always connected, and always connecting with friends and others. This increased connectedness fundamentally changes how we live our lives and how we interact with products. Some companies stand out for their response to this desire for connecting. Listen to what consumers have to say about mobile technology, and learn about some of the products and packages that best leverage mobile technology.

“Our presentations will provide thought-provoking consumer insight that will spark great ideas for package designers to strengthen brands and grow market share,” says Pete Giannakopoulos, president, CPG Americas/EMEA, Mintel. “Attendees can look forward to insights that will help them develop products that will position them a head above their competitors.”

Yuska, president and CEO of PMMI, the Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, the sponsor and producer of PACK EXPO Las Vegas. “Through our partnership with Mintel, PACK EXPO Las Vegas attendees will benefit from gaining expert knowledge on the latest trends that will affect consumer purchasing decisions, and ultimately- their business.”
