Gentian (Gentiana Scabra) is a perennial herb that grows in many areas of China, Russia, Korea and Japan. The roots and rhizomes of Gentian can be used in medicine to protect the liver and bile, and in skin care products for its skin conditioning benefits.

Gentiana Scabra Root Extract is still a very niche ingredient in skin care products globally, however, according to Mintel GNPD data, its penetration has shown significant growth in the last three years, reaching 0.12% in the last year.
