2021 has proven to be yet another year filled with new challenges, but also new opportunities. As we continue to navigate ‘unprecedented’ and extraordinary times, with circumstances that can change overnight, the Mintel community is joining together to bring hope, holiday cheer and much needed support to those most deserving. Before waving goodbye to 2021, we invited our regional Mintel Gives Committee Chairs to showcase their festive, charitable activities across the globe.
Mintel Gives Americas joins the fight for ‘lives without limits’
For the seventh consecutive year, Mintel Gives Americas is participating in One Hope United’s Holiday WishBook campaign through the end of December, where employees have the opportunity to positively impact the lives of children and families served by the organization by purchasing items and services that are needed year-round. One Hope United is a social services organization that focuses on promoting healthy families in underserved areas.
Over the past six years, Mintel Americas employees have raised over $30,000 to serve families in the Chicagoland area by purchasing wishbook items such as animal therapy for children who have experienced trauma; preschool scholarships to OHU’s early childhood development centers; and household essentials for teens leaving residential care or transitioning out of foster care. Their efforts support the organization’s mission of ensuring that every child and family live a life without limits.
In lieu of hosting a corporate holiday party for the past two years, Mintel Americas generously donated $10,000 to organizations that impact underserved communities during the holiday season. This year, Mintel split the $10,000 among two deserving organizations with a focus on education and food/housing insecurity.
$5,000 was donated to Epic Academy, a public high school on Chicago’s southeast side, to assist in funding their summer internship program (which Mintel has participated in as a corporate partner for two years). For the remaining $5,000, Mintel Gives Americas held a live drawing to select from employee-submitted organizations that battle food and housing insecurities. DuPage Pads, an organization that fights homelessness in DuPage County, IL, was selected.
Mintel Gives Germany and Sterntaler Foundation fulfill Christmas wishes of children in need
Last year, Mintel Gives Germany participated in the #WeihnachtenzuHause (‘Christmas at Home’) campaign which was initiated by the Düsseldorf ‘Goodnight Bus’ and the Verändere deine Stadt (‘Transform your City’) initiative to provide Christmas presents for the homeless.
This year, we decided to team up with Sterntaler Foundation, a non-profit organisation supporting children and teenagers in need. As part of this collaboration, we collected donations for the mother-child group at TrebeCafé, which is situated in the Düsseldorf Diakonie and serves as a contact point for young women and girls living on the street.
Following the theme ‘take a wish – fulfil the wish’, Mintel set up a Christmas tree in the Design Office lobby and decorated it with 24 Christmas wishes from the mothers and children. From wooden trains to Playmobil police helicopters, Mintel – with the help of those in the Design Office – was able to fill the wishlists of these very deserving families.
