Join Mintel’s Head of Brazil Reports, Naira Sato, as she speaks at the SCC Chile Meeting on May 2-4, 2019.

Naira will be speaking on “Cosmetic Claims & Ingredient Trends for 2019”.

Supported by extensive research and innovation, beauty claims and ingredients continue to evolve across markets. In our presentation, we will explore the current, global trends that are impacting the beauty space and how these are expressed by new ingredients and claims used by companies. We will take a look at the ingredients that are creating buzz, keeping consumers engaged and making brands more disruptive. For example, ingredients from the food and drinks sectors – such as matcha, tea tree, avocado, etc – and ingredients that are emerging in some countries (e.g. CBD oil in the US and Europe, probiotics and fermented ingredients in Asia and plant-based ingredients worldwide)

We will also discuss the claims that are trendy right now, like the ones associated with wellbeing, (that aim to relieve stress and bring relaxation), as well as clean beauty claims, which are tapping into consumers’ demand for greater transparency, when it comes to ingredients and labels.

Beauty may be a global quest. However, the way cosmetic products are developed and received varies from one region to another, according to people’s specific needs and cultural differences. We will discuss how consumer perceptions about these ingredients and claims vary and how they are playing out across local and global markets.

Beauty innovation has split into two models: rapid, culturally responsive launches that convert attention into trial, and slower, science-led development that creates defensible value and builds worlds consumers want to belong to. In the future, growth will come from matching the pace of innovation to the consumer need, rather than treating speed or retail presence as the strategy itself.
