Mintel experts track the trending ingredients and new product launches, spotlight the trends affecting the market and its future growth. In this episode, we’re looking at the vitality supportingredient – Ginseng. This is a precious medicinal herb that is widely known for its immune-boosting, antioxidant, energy-enhancing and anxiety-relieving effects.

According to research in the Mintel Reports China, Functional Drinks, 2022, over 70% of respondents said they had and would continue to drink functional drinks with energy-supplement-related claims, more than other claims.

Among New Launches in Mintel GNPD, in the past three years (January 2020 – December 2022), the number of new food and drink products containing ginseng in China has grown by 193.3%. While US has traditionally been the market with the most product innovations, its share of new products has started to decline; new products from Thailand, China and Norway leading the growth of innovation in related categories.
