Chicago (October 25, 2012)-Mintel, a leading market research company, is proud to announce that Director of Innovation & Insight Lynn Dornblaser will be a packaging industry judge for Evergreen Packaging’s Project Carton: The Carton Design Competition.

The contest began on September 4 with student participants from the Fashion Institute of Technology FIT) and will conclude at a VIP reception on October 28 at the Hyatt McCormick Center in Chicago, as part of PACK EXPO International. Judging took place on October 23.

“I’m very excited to be a judge for the Project Carton contest,” says Lynn Dornblaser. “This competition pools some of the future designers at FIT to examine new ways beverage packaging can be tailored to attract consumers who seek out eco-friendly packaging.”

According to Mintel research, 50% of consumers believe that eco-friendly beverage packaging is important. What’s more, 43% would be willing to pay more for beverages that touted a good for the environment claim and was made from a percentage of “post-consumer” recycled materials.

Lynn Dornblaser will join judges from brands like Coca-Cola, WhiteWave Foods and Wal-Mart and serve on a Q&A panel where FIT students in Packaging Brand Development will be able to pick the brains of industry professionals and gain invaluable insight from those who are experts in their field.

She brings more than a quarter century of product trend knowledge to Mintel, which she joined in 1998, applying her unique perspective on the market and new product development to tailored client research and extensive public speaking.
